The Technique That Weaves Your Logo into the Waistband
The name jacquard comes from the patterning system that allows warp yarns on the loom to be raised and lowered individually or in small groups. In plain woven elastic, the yarns move in a fixed, repetitive sequence, while on a jacquard-equipped loom, the pattern file determines which yarn comes to the surface. In this way, letters, symbols, stripes and composite motifs are formed inside the elastic as an inseparable part of it. While the elastic yarns that provide stretch keep working in the body, colored yarns such as polyester or polyamide draw the pattern on the visible face. The result is a band that both stretches and carries brand identity, with a depth that printing techniques cannot achieve.
The waistband is one of the first details a customer notices on sweatpants, shorts or underwear. Even when the product is on a hanger, on a shelf or folded, the waist area stays visible; when worn, it peeks out from under the top in a controlled way. Repeating logo sequence
Your logo or brand name repeats at set intervals along the band. The repeat interval is adjusted to the cut length so the logo appears consistently at the center or sides of the waistband.

Quality Control and Usage Tips for Jacquard Elastic
- On the sample, check logo definition separately with the elastic both stretched and relaxed.
- Plan the pattern repeat interval to match your waist measurements so the logo is not cut at the center back seam.
- Use a ballpoint needle for sewing; a sharp point can cut the elastic yarns and weaken stretch.
- Always include instructions on the care label to wash at low temperature and not to use bleach.
- High-heat drying and direct iron contact on the pattern shorten the life of the elastic fibers.
- Keep the approved sample as a reference to prevent color deviation between lots.

What is jacquard elastic?
Jacquard elastic is a stretch band in which the pattern and logo are created by the yarn arrangement during weaving. The lettering or motif seen on the surface is not printed afterwards; it is part of the elastic’s structure. That is why manufacturers who want to display their brand permanently on exposed waistbands, especially on tracksuits, shorts and underwear, choose it. Pattern, logo and colors are prepared specifically for your brand.
How is a logo worked into jacquard elastic, and how does it differ from printing?
Your logo is first converted into a pattern file that the loom can read. Based on this file, the loom determines which yarn comes to the surface and weaves the logo into the band. With printed elastic, the pattern is applied to the surface of the finished elastic. The jacquard method provides a more textured, lasting look, while printing can be a more flexible option for graphics with very fine detail.
In which widths can jacquard elastic be produced?
For waistband applications, jacquard elastic is typically used in widths between 2 and 6 cm. The exact width is determined by the product type, logo size and the desired level of firmness. If you need a different size, you can share your request with our team; suitability is assessed together at the sample stage. On narrow bands the logo is simplified, while wider bands allow richer pattern layouts.
Can I have jacquard elastic made in my own brand colors?
Yes. The ground, pattern and any edge stripe colors are matched against the yarn color card according to your brand’s color codes. Sending a piece of the fabric the elastic will be sewn onto is helpful for seeing how the tones work together. Final colors are submitted for your approval on a sample, and bulk production follows this approved sample. This ensures consistency between lots.
Does jacquard elastic fade in the wash, and does the logo deteriorate?
Because the logo is woven in yarn, the cracking or peeling that can occur with prints does not happen with jacquard elastic. Color behavior, however, depends on the yarn used and the dyeing quality, so we recommend a wash test at the sample stage. This test is especially important for dark and vivid colors. Specifying low-temperature, bleach-free washing on your product’s care label also extends the life of the elastic.
What does the price of jacquard elastic depend on?
The main factors that determine price are the elastic width, yarn type, number of colors in the pattern, pattern complexity and total order length. Because every project is different, rather than a fixed list price we prepare a project-specific quote based on your logo and technical expectations. Simply share the details.
